We Just Landed $1M To Get Every Child in America Reading at Grade Level

We couldn’t be more grateful to the US Department of Education’s Institute for Education Sciences (ED/IES) for awarding Literably a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to get every child in America reading at grade level. We see this as a HUGE win for teachers and students as well as our team!

How Will Funds Be Deployed?

Every year, ED/IES awards startups that are building game-changing technologies that positively benefit society with funding to continue to develop and scale their solution. And that’s exactly what we plan to do with the money – further develop and scale our literacy assessment platform.

If you’re reading this blog post, you already know that Literably efficiently and accurately assesses literacy skills like phonological awareness, phonics and fluency and provides educators with an understanding of each child’s optimal instructional path to reading proficiency.

Literably’s Oral Reading Fluency and Foundational Skills assessments are already used by over 200K students in over 150 districts across the US. Now, we can expand even further to assess skills like vocabulary and comprehension, empowering educators with even more “whole child intelligence.”

Given the context of education today - including COVID learning loss and teacher shortages - we know it’s more important than ever to empower teachers with solutions that offer diagnostic intelligence to save time and get results. Community & Team Support Make It All Possible

Building a company is hard, especially in an industry like education. It requires unwavering support and a community of cheerleaders who believe in your vision. We are incredibly proud of what we’re building and grateful to find that support in the Institute for Education Sciences.

Stay tuned for more as we roll out new solutions! And tell us: What would you love to see from Literably?
